Our Areas of Work
-
Farmers & Growers
We work with farmers and growers to demonstrate agroecological methods and more sustainable economic models. For example, through arranging visits to agroecological growing sites across the UK and hosting food and farming related seminars and workshops. We seek to to increase knowledge and skills, share good practice, create collaborative networks, and support access to markets.
-
Small Businesses
We want to promote more ethical trading. We believe this can help businesses be more resilient, increase opportunities for trade, increase employment, training and skills, and enable opportunities and access to markets.
We work with small food and farming businesses through collaborative projects which support innovators and entrepreneurs. We offer training and partnerships for small-scale horticultural and agricultural enterprises, and other businesses throughout the food and farming supply chain.
-
Communities
We wish to increase awareness and understanding of agroecological methods of food production, and strengthen the relationship between local communities, food businesses and farming communities.
We seek to engage with, and support communities, interest groups and aligned organisations thought a variety of projects, workshops and events, to enable the sharing of knowledge, information and skills.
Topics may include: how food and farming links to biodiversity and climate change, how communities can access nutritious, local food, UK agroforestry systems, and skills such as food growing or food preserving and processing.
-
Education & Training
We design and run educational projects, workshops and training courses, create resources and arrange visits to local farms and food producers. We work both independently and in collaboration with other organisations.
We are able to work with schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organisations or programmes. Access to high quality, relevant knowledge and skills is vital to support individuals to flourish. It also strengthens the relationship of food and farming with educational and business communities.
We support both teachers and learners by demonstrating the relevance of regenerative food and farming systems to a range of national curriculum subject areas, as well as wider educational topics including biodiversity and climate change, sustainable and healthy dietary choices, and local food production.
-
Research
We contribute to research that benefits or promotes agroecological food and farming systems.
Research can provide opportunities for innovation, knowledge sharing and collaboration. It can also strengthen relationships between farming, scientific and educational communities, increasing the overall impact of their work.
