Farm Tour - Diverse Cereal Cropping in East Anglia

  • Maple Farm Saxmundham, England, IP17 2PJ United Kingdom (map)

Join Barleybird & Mike Mallet, Farm Manager at Maple Farm, for a tour of their biodiverse crops, in particular, resilient cereal crops.

We especially welcome farmers from within, and close to, the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths and Dedham Vale National Landscapes. View map here.‍ ‍

  • See how a range of older, taller wheat varieties and mixtures, plus other cereal crops, perform in the field within and beyond an agroforestry system and just before harvest.

  • Learn how Maple Farm uses diversity (within and between crops) to manage for disease, drought and other biotic and abiotic stresses.

  • Join informal discussions about the role of diversity (and particularly cereals) in biodiverse, economically resilient farming systems.

  • Meet farmers, millers and bakers from the East Anglian Grain Alliance (EAGA), part of UK Grain Lab, who have already started to create a local grain economy: building relationships, discovering what their needs are, and learning how they can support each other to develop resilient businesses and produce delicious, nutritious food.

  • Use this rare opportunity to ask questions and find out more about growing, processing and marketing a greater diversity of crops – especially cereals - and how to get involved with the EAGA network.

The half day tour and networking sessions is FREE to attend, including refreshments. Places are limited so BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.

Please forward these details to any other farmers, especially those in or around the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths

or Dedham Vale National Landscapes, who you think may be interested too
